It was so nice of my supervisor to share some tips with me on how to survive in this organization. My supervisor has been working in this organization for more than 10 years. On her 10th year of anniversary working in this company she wrote a survival tips as a reminder for herself...& wallah! she decided to share it with me (^_^) ...here it goes..
QUOTED FROM MY E-MAIL
Here are some of my random "survival" tips, take it with a pinch of salt, and at your own risk! ;)
§ Count your blessings - it's easy to take things for granted, try NOT to!
§ Be flexible - it's easier to flex yourself than others.
§ Think positively - from your long list of complaints, pick some to address, one at a time, at least.
§ Do something important but not urgent everyday - apart from fighting fires, you also need to prevent fires, at the same time. (this is Quadrant 2 if you're familiar with Covey’s 7 habits)
§ Think 3 steps ahead - sometimes a solution can solve one issue at hand but create more problems later.
§ Ask yourself "what elevation are you at" - elevation gives you a better view, or more macro view, in work.
§ Be innovative and think creatively - this is good exercise for your brain.
§ Acknowledge people's intention - there is a positive intention behind every behaviour.
§ Balance self-righteousness with openness - admit it, we are all self-righteous (how can one actually believe his/her opinions are not right?!), but others are right about their opinions too!
§ Be more opportunistic, intuitively - capitalize on opportunities which your intuition and conscience will guide you.
§ Do financial planning for yourself - you don't expect someone to plan for you, do you?
§ Continue to learn - it is important to learn big things, as well as small things.
§ Self-accountability - ultimately, you are only accountable to yourself, not others.
Look forward to continue working with you!
